The 5 Photo Award is an international photography and video art event that builds bridges between countries and cultures. The event was inspired by a 500-year-old tree in the suburb of Damavand, located in the village of Aro, which has also been an inspiration to the world-famous director, Abbas Kiarostami. A few years ago, Mehdi Shadizadeh, a documentary photographer, filmmaker, and the founder of 5 Photo Award, photographed this tree and established the event to celebrate this cultural and iconic symbol, which symbolizes Abbas Kiarostami’s artistic legacy.
